Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees could perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single individual. These buckets are better suited to particular tasks such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Since these machinery should be directly positioned under the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these types of machines, since they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle usually used to lift employees for various jobs done at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand as well as a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Cherry pickers can lift workers up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy materials and equipment for one place to another. There are various types of cranes which could carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machinery excel at different jobs and are suitable for certain applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
