Change an LPG Cylinder

Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They can run from gasoline, LP gas or liquid propane, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for various applications. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that are able to be changed out when the machinery should be refueled.



When changing out an LP cylinder, you must truly be careful in order to avoid possible serious injuries. For instance: be sure to put on the appropriate safety equipment like safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Turn off the ignition of the forklift before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Bear in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections.
