There is an extensive variety of articulating lifts on the market. There is pretty much a type of lift to fit every circumstance, application and work place. There are some manufacturers who specify in lifts for dangerous atmospheres such as petro-chemical plants, underground tunnel situations, and other venues where there is a risk of dust or explosive gases, for example in grain-processing plants.



Some lifts have been mounted to big flatbed trucks or onto the back of pickup trucks or onto trailers. There are kinds of lifts which include articulating booms that can be self-propelled and are controlled by the lift operator, whilst others can pivot 360 degrees.



There are lift models designed specifically for indoor and outdoor use, and come in 2-wheel and 4-wheel powered models. In several cases, the platforms are adjustable and several kinds of lifts have baskets where the worker stands. These platforms or baskets are adjustable and allow the workers to remain level or swing into place, depending on what the operator must finish the job. There are some platforms and baskets which come wired so as to allow the operator to plug tools in as required.
