A kind of machinery in the material handling industry that can be used to raise and transport loads from one location to another is referred to as a forklift. Every component of a forklift has a particular function. Various components can be used to transport the load horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The components utilized to lift and lower the load is referred to as the forklift mast. There are various kinds of masts used for raising loads to different heights: quad, simplex, duplex and triplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is located inside the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
Located within the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all located inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift components is the frame of the truck. This consists of the counterweights located at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
